Martins Rocker

Another trip to Andover today to return Martin's Rocker which has had the Rocket Bobs treatment :)

We're really pleased with how it turned out,, it looks kinda hot roddy :)  The bikes got a very special appointment later this month as Martin & Louise will be getting married on it so this job required a full dual seat set up.

And this trip was made all the more sweeter by the fantastic lemon drizzle caked homebaked by Martin.  Some people do seem to be under the impression that we refuse to return bikes until we get cake,, not sure what would have given them that idea,, but it would appear rude not to accept the hospitality :D

This was the cake he made (and then ate!) last week to try to get his bike back early.  Sadly his bribery failed but I'm glad to say that he prepared another one for our arrival.

AFTER
Best wishes to Martin & Louise for the 23rd.  Hope it stays dry for you!

New! Lightbar for Voodoo Fender Kit

For those people not wanting to mount their turns on the struts we now have an optional extra for the Voodoo Fender Kit in the shape of this 7075 T6 billet Lightbar for Kellermanns.

It mounts to the shim holes on the backing plate of the Voodoo Fender struts and keeps your Kellermanns hidden just under the shock mounts.  The Kellermanns are so bright that visibility from the rear remains brilliant.

Harley Davidson Billet Footpegs

We've been looking for a set of footpegs to match up with our old skool ribbed grips but couldn't find anything out there that we liked.  So we've designed these Fat Pigs.

Each one is machined from billet 7075 T6 ally and available in raw (pictured) or anodised black.  We are also going to do the ribs contrast cut in anodised black.  These guys are 42mm fat and just look absolutely killer on the bike.  Available now on our products page and as soon as we've got the Bob rolling we'll post up some more pics.

Use Your Head!

Not everything in life is about Harley Davidsons,, oops, did I just say that out loud :D

(PLEASE NOTE THE MANAGEMENT DOES NOT ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE VIEWS EXPRESSED BY ITS WORKERS)

We're now in the second week of artic weather here in the UK and (some people thought) the office was in need of brightening up.  The latest addition to the Rocket Bobs admin staff is a Skull Stapler, complete with a removable skull cap for storing all your essential paperclips and staples.

The cold weather may be affecting my mind.....

Tinker's Twin Cam

Had Nige's 2010 Wide Glide in for some work and dropped it back off to him a few weeks ago (it's been a bit manic so haven't had time to post earlier!).

We modified the frame and fitted a Voodoo Fender.  Nige wanted the bike lower but didn't want to lose handling or ground clearance so we put a larger tyre on the front and lowered the forks 1".  We went with 11.5" rear Rocket Bob nitro's and lowered the profile of the 180 rear to give us an equivalent rear drop.

It all worked out perfectly, the bike handles really well but, more importantly, has a really cool stance and that's really what its all about :D

Nige is the perfect guy to work with.  Having already built his own rigid he has a clear understanding of what's what and we really enjoyed putting this bike together for him.

Rocket Bobs Headbone

So while waiting for the paint on our latest Street Bob build we had time to figure out a solution to the holes in the headstock on Dynas.  These holes are where the loom from the switchgear normally run through but, as our Bob no longer runs switches on the bars, these holes have become redundant (and are driving us nuts!).

The obvious plan would be to block them off, maybe weld them up and then paint the frame BUT this is not really working with what you've got, it's a cop out.

So (as usual) we've gone the hard route and, with the help of Faringdon Precision Engineers, we have designed and manufactured the Rocket Bobs Headbone :D

Machined from a solid block of 7075 T6 ally, these billet tubes run through the frame at the headstock.  It's a simple idea but a very tough shape to program, however the end result is a real feature now on the Bob and a cool finishing detail.

If you're interested in this, or any of our products, drop us a mail.

316 Stainless Exhaust Clamps

Jeez, you don't hear from us for weeks and then you can't get rid of us!!  :D

So I spent a lot of money on my pipe,, and then I go to fit it and the OEM clamps are just crap.  I got hold of some surgical grade stainless,, this stuff is awesome and will polish up like chrome BUT won't ever chip, crack, peel off or rust!!

So I've made exhaust clamps for Harleys, these are a direct replacement but made from the best grade stainless I can get and a few extra doodabs on them to look cool

Will post some better pic's later but for now here's an iphone shot,, the one on the right is polished, all the others are straight off the mill.

New products update

We posted a while back about our new clutch covers for Harley Davidson big twins which are machined from 7075 billet.

Here's a sneek peak at our new AC kit,, more details to come later.......

Harley Rocker shaved fender

A recent job to shave 6" off a rear Rocker fender.

It's a great opportunity to show off Arts paint work.  The original OEM transfer flames were put back on by hand once he had laid down the sunglo candy red.  Looks great and this is why we use Art on all our paint now, from the humble Voodoo fender to a full blown custom creation.

Voodoo Bob final stages

It's taken some time (11 months on and off!) but we're finally getting close to the end of the Voodoo Bob build.  The tank and new fender are down at Arts getting a Rocket Bobs themed paint scheme and we should hopefully be fitting it all back on in the next couple of weeks (workshop space permitting!).

Another month flies by, and another Rocker :)

Well here are at the start of November (only 54 days to xmas!! :D) and the blog is feeling a wee bit neglected again.  There has been so much going on that things have been a bit manic here and we haven't had a chance to do any blogging,, but hopefully the next few posts should bring things up to date.

First off we've been tearing down our latest Harley Rocker which is going to be a far more involved build than we've done before on one of these softails.

Think air rides, pintails and zombi's (more later!).

Fat Rocker C

Had a great time in Basingstoke today meeting up with Mark & Bernadette again.  We dropped Marks Rocker back to him fitted out with our new style rear fender that nicely covers the 260 tyre he fitted.

Part of the job was to put on a set of our risers with some RSD vintage bars.  Just a heads up to any Rocker owners out there,, technically all the cables should be replaced if you're going to do this mod, and the loom needs extending 4" to the switches.

Mark had a particular dislike for fork mounted turns and asked us to come up with something different.  So we took a set of mini bullets and flush mounted them into a custom fabbed bracket that attaches straight to the base of the headstock.  This solution is so effective we've decided to market it :)

Big thanks to Mark for trusting us with his scoot again but be warned,  next time we visit we're taking the dog!!

Lloyd Lies

After a lot of fabrication and general all-out, all hours labour we finished Lloyd's Bob and delivered it back to him today with one proviso - that he bake us a cake.

Does this cake look homebaked to you??

We think not,, the sly, dirty, cheating **&%$@#~!  (It tasted good though).

Harley Davidson Street Bob

Sunday was delivery day for Carl's Bob,, it was a longer than expected build due to unforseen circumstances but Carl was really cool about it all and never complained (thanks bud, much appreciated).

We lowered the rear of the tank 12mm, shaved the frame, fitted our Voodoo fender kit and the new style all-gel Weeli seat.

Other doodabs include a one off fabbed sidemount using an Easyriders tail light, a whole load of stainless spacers, the new style Rocket Bobs shock spacers and a tricked out dipstick!  All in all we think this is one of the coolest looking Bobs and it goes like a rocket! :)

We also met some Street Bob owners of the future!!

It's shipped totally raw, bare steel, so some prep. work is required prior to powder/paint. This is a barebones kit but there are add-ons such as shock spacers, shims, rocket seat mount bolt etc.

Harley Street Bob / Dyna Strut Removal

We get asked a lot how to remove the OEM struts and prep. for a Rocket Bobs Voodoo Fender.  Its a simple job as can be seen by this video we've finally managed to post on YouTube.

If you have any questions let us know :)

Back to Black - Harley Davidson Rocker C

Off to Basingstoke today with a van full of Harley Rocker.

This build was a bit of a challenge because the Rocker had already been lowered and the stock shocks weren't damping correctly, so we had to do a bit of fabrication to get a slammed look that still make the ride rideable.

We're very happy with the end result and anytime a guy says to you that you've exceeded his expectations with a build is a good day :)
