Going to post a long monologue later about why a Shovel, but for now here's the bike I've always wanted. A 1979 FXS 80" Lowrider. It actually gets better than that, but like I say, more later. The plan was to just ride it and then do some simple work on it BUT mainly just keep it on the road. Well I took it out the van yesterday and despite my friend Tony having done a great job building this scooter, I just saw a bunch of possible work I could do plus my 76 Superglide tank just looks killer on there. Then there's areas like the pipe, as we are making some insane pipes right now it only seems right to fab something up for my Bike plus lose the switchgear and all wiring I think.....Here's a couple of crappy pix....

It's been a hell of a year, it's all down to you fellas supporting us and I honestly think that from that we can hit 2012 with even more schnitzels!

Still staggered at how this whole business has exploded, at the start all I could think about was just being allowed to work on Harley's and how cool that was, now 2 years on and we have our own frames, rocker covers and an ever growing array of cool shit.

I honestly think life can not get any better than this & all I got to do is keep it rolling.

So a huge thanks to everyone who has supported us and Lisa & I want to wish you all the best possible Christmas. See you in the new year :)

The Frame, Boss, the frame !

Well things at the shop got extremely busy towards the end of last month and we are heading into the holidays flat out trying to get the covers, nuts & kits out to an ever more jittery array of wives & girlfriends :D

Thing is we have the first set of tubes back from Good Fabs & I am desperate to get them on the jig. The 316 headstocks are done and we are ready to roll out the first frames !

T45 is an astounding material, it's just so light, but ridiculously strong. All up our frames should come in at less than 1/4 the weight of the OEM frame and I mean a lot less !!

So just a few quick shots of the tubes and headstocks,, back in a bit .......

Well the frames are at the final stage, Good Fabs do all our tube bending now as they work a lot with T45. I tell you that is one weird steel! We use 17 gauge, or 1.42mm wall, on our frames and it's so light that I had to try to destroy a wee off cut the other day & it's damn near impossible :D

Obviously a BFH can and did in the end, however this material is amazing. I'm just thinking that the finished frames will be so light the performance with a grunty Harley motor, should be a whole lot of fun !

So I'm jigging them up next week and Rob is doing the welding.

Other news, Blackbirds back from the NEC and now is in strip down for some major detailing work, it's been a great year for that scoot & with Jims permission I want to drag it round some EU shows next year.

Workload has exploded again. We had a 2 week lull in November, which meant I nearly caught up with orders! But now we are rammed again and Xmas is gonna get right in the frickin way,, ho ho ho x(

Feb deadline looms large for Pressure Drop! But a lifeline may have been thrown our way, as there could be an AMD affiliate show a month later in Manchester, in which case we will blow off LICS (TBH last years show was woefull) and aim for that one.

That's it, our Xmas cards are done so expect yours shortly ;)

My advice to anyone thinking of re-shaping a late model trans is don't :D !!! So far we have well over 30 meters of filler rod and hours of TIG time. And it's relentless, as you weld one area so the heat drives out gas and impurities elsewhere in the cases.

But I think we got it, so now it's flipped over and in the shot is the next piece of welding to do. This ally tube will run the clutch hose and rear brake hose, keeping everything clean. Once this is done I'm on the home straight with the trans! Just got to make the covers and machine the finished finish !

Big things going down this weekend, the first frame is rolling, the first rocker covers are being cut, the AMD build is starting 1st assembly & these are finished:

103" or 106" Rocket Bobs Jugs. 10.5:1 up to 11.7:1 running Keith Black pistons.

These are for late model Twin Cams and are basically a more old skool look. Also available raw or powder coated any colour you want. We also offer a matching re-shaping service on your OEM heads :

Two Years in

I had a five year plan. To generate enough business to finance a full frame design & start in on ground ups with our own bikes. Well 2 years in and we are here already! The reason for the Co and the name is right here, our first frame is now days away from production, this is just a crappy iPhone pic of the computer screen but thought I'd share. The frames are made from T45 steel and 316 Stainless tube plus plate. This is a basic CAD drawing so no braces etc,, but my friends, this frame is sleek, light, ultra strong and jigged up & welded by Rob the genius! The CAD work was courtesy of FPE and my friend, Trevor, without whose talents we would still be in our five year plan :))

So guys, this IS the first Rocket Bob.......

New Dyna Frames

So next week, hopefully, the first tubes will be bent and we can jig them up and start welding. At this rate we will be in full frame production by end of November ! Our gas caps are now available in billet 7075. Come raw, polished or anodised ;). Here's a quick pic, things have been hectic lately and I haven't had a lot if time to blog but I got a couple of rants I wanna let fly with so just as soon as I am back behind a proper keyboard I'll have a go :D

Also over the next few weeks, we have a huge range of billet parts coming out. They are all related to the AMD Freestyle build we are deep into. Upshot is that finally we have stepped up to frame building and complex motor covers etc. All in our style rather than going for the usual suspects.

Well I guess you can only hang on to these bikes for so long and then you just have to give them back :(

Yesterday I took the scoot out for an extended shakedown and was just blown away by it. Best ride I've ever had and so forlornly today we handed the R13 over to Jim.

Just got to thank Jim for being such a stand up guy. He has put up with all my delays, lack of dialogue and general design tantrums and never given me too much of a hard time :D

The really great news is shortly the Blackbird will be back in the barn for more tweaks and then at Bisley in early August. Plus this winter we are going to go for a full motor build with an open primary etc

Will keep you posted, for now here are the happy couple:

Ok just a very quick post, more up later. Last weekend at the California Dreaming Expo the R13 Blackbird took 3rd in the Harley Modified class :D

Ok, it wasn't 1st !! But as a brightener, there were only a few points separating the top three.

1st was Mike from Guildford's Twin Pan and that's just so cool and a huge congrats to my Buddy :))

Well we finally get setup! Has taken days as behind this pic is a cutting/grinding sheet metal area then above us is welding, glass and general fab plus of course a plush reception :D. Once things are settled and this week is out the way it's going to be an open door policy for all existing customers with free coffee and maybe even a donut!

This week, however, is manic as most of the Harleys in this pic have to be finished in 2 weeks!

Rocket Velocity Stack

Been working on this for a while and tonight Trevor and I got the backplate for the new AC nailed and into production. This Velocity Stack kit is going to be nuts, contrast anodised potential due to the stack being a press fit into the base plate. The breathers utilise anodised banjos with braided hose running into a dual banjo underneath the base plate, vented into the inlet. Heres some pix from the mill and some mockups :

Heres just a really bad pic ! It shows the main spine of a Rocker and a cool place to re locate the coil. The actual work to do this is way less than equivalent on a Dyna, it's almost like Harley once thought of mounting it there.

The whole coil thing with HD has always jarred with me, really never understood why they place them where they do.

Anyway, this is a neat little mod and all you need is the Taylor lead kit:

Ok, I promise, this is the last build up of the Bob. From now on we buy in fresh Hogs and cut them up !

For now I am doing a tubular swingarm, 240 rear on all new & very trick Apollo wheels, pulley brake, open primary, Pintail & dummy oil bag, Rocker tank, new pipe, bars, lights and our new Velocity Stack AC with breather catch tank.

Hopefully we got enough time before Bournemouth !!

So to keep everything clean, run the headlight wires tight out of the shell & down through the lower tree, then route straight into the frame by drilling a 10mm hole to the lower front of the ign switch. 10mm allows the use of a rubber grommet and still is large enough for the wires:

Tank work

I know I keep going on about it, but my latest obsession is cutting up tanks. This is the Street Bob tank that's going on a Rocker, it's now in at paint which means I have no idea when we will see it again !! However this is the finished fab work. Next up is a tank for the Bob that I have notched and split in two so the battery and all other electrics can be hidden. Bottom line, I'm going to be doing this notching a lot :D

Rocker Motor

Always loved the vintage look of gloss black barrels. With this motor we went with flat, textured finish on other random covers and flat black anodising on our collets, timing cover etc. Gotta love that Twin Cam. What I really want to do is get our rocker covers made ASAP. As for this motor, we just need Harley to send us the RIGHT!!! parts and we are done:

International Custom Bike Show 2011

Just got back from the International Custom Bike Show at Ally Pally. We had a really great time and thanks so much for all your kind comments and positive feedback. Sadly we didn't win anything this year :( but huge props to Shaws and Guildford HD for carrying off the silverware in the Stock Modified Harley category. And Larry Houghton of Lamb Engineering's 'Son Of A Gun' BSA was a just winner in freestyle.

We are up and running again now with a head full of ideas and a full order book but we will hopefully be in Bournemouth at the end of May with a mutha of a rocker. For now here are some shots from the weekend:

Shaved Nuts

Always found the fork nuts on the Dynas a fugly affair. So yesterday we hit a set. First skimmed the massive barnacle of a hex off then counter bored the head before using an ultra trick lathe tool that cuts a socket head whilst spinning at a ridiculous speed !! Don't ask me how, some things are best explained by Voodoo ;)

Then we turned up thin caps that fit and replicate the original form less the hex.

All up it's an ultra clean mod....

Rocket Bobs Billet Brakes

The Rocket 6 caliper is milled from billet 7075 T6, hard anodised black and runs six billet pistons hard anodised clear. This setup caliper is one I have raced with in the past and I know how good it is,, and it now carries our name :)

This is a full-on race spec. caliper, it's a mutha fckin bastard and you will not believe how hard you stop! I've run this on a Bob and keep pulling up short!

It runs six mini pads that are also race proven and, even when the rotor is baking, you will not get that fade or wooden feeling. They just keep biting.

We do direct bolt on Rocket 6 calipers or we do this one pictured which is designed to fit on a Bob/Dyna and run with a 13" rotor.

All our calipers have a full no quibble warranty.

The rotor here is a 13" (11 1/2" and 11 3/4" rotors are also available), it's a direct bolt on for Bobs/Dynas and is a special stainless rotor, fully floating with stainless dowels connecting it to a hard anodised black billet 7075 centre. The stopping power of a 13" rotor and the Rocket 6 is just freakin astounding.

Voodoo Bob

Happy New Year!!

It's been a hectic xmas, no kidding, we have never been so short of time and the weather was just a total PITA. The Voodoo Bob build was finally finished just before the holidays and we arranged for a shoot at a local quarry. However the night before the entire country was dumped on with 80 billion (approx.) feet of snow and our only option was to shoot at a barn adjacent to ours.

Not ideal but considering what we had to deal with I am pretty happy with the outcome. Here are a few shots however there will be a full gallery of this Voodoo Bob build up on the website gallery pages shortly.

We'll also put some details of all the mods on the gallery pages and there will be a YouTube video soon but if you have any queries in the meantime drop us an email.

Martins Rocker

Another trip to Andover today to return Martin's Rocker which has had the Rocket Bobs treatment :)

We're really pleased with how it turned out,, it looks kinda hot roddy :) The bikes got a very special appointment later this month as Martin & Louise will be getting married on it so this job required a full dual seat set up.

And this trip was made all the more sweeter by the fantastic lemon drizzle caked homebaked by Martin. Some people do seem to be under the impression that we refuse to return bikes until we get cake,, not sure what would have given them that idea,, but it would appear rude not to accept the hospitality :D

This was the cake he made (and then ate!) last week to try to get his bike back early. Sadly his bribery failed but I'm glad to say that he prepared another one for our arrival.

New! Lightbar for Voodoo Fender Kit

For those people not wanting to mount their turns on the struts we now have an optional extra for the Voodoo Fender Kit in the shape of this 7075 T6 billet Lightbar for Kellermanns.

It mounts to the shim holes on the backing plate of the Voodoo struts and keeps your Kellermanns hidden just under the shock mounts. The Kellermanns are so bright that visibility from the rear remains brilliant.

The Lightbar is £25, Kellermanns not included.
